Kalkan's beach map is best unlocked by car. The central Kalkan Town Beach is pebbly, compact and Blue Flag in season, but most visitors wanting a full beach day drive out to better options. Kaputas Beach is the headline stop just 7 km away, where parking — not the short drive — is the real bottleneck, so early-morning arrival is wisest in peak season. Patara Beach lies about 18 km away and offers an exceptionally long sandy shore with easier parking and access via the Patara archaeological-site entrance at 15 euro, making it the strongest family choice. Closer to town, Kalamar and Akbel give quieter swimming spots. You don't strictly need a car for the town beach, but a rental gives the flexibility to reach Kaputas, Patara and Kas on your own schedule rather than relying on dolmus timings.
